Regimental Drum Major Association Officers

 

 

     

Vice President Drum Major Kieran Boyle was born in Montreal Canada.  He enlisted in the Black Watch (RHR) Cadet Corps in 1983, where he received his red star and wreath, the honor of best recruit, and was promoted to the rank of corporal.

 

Kieran joined the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada in 1985.  He was ranked 3rd overall in the Recruit Company of 60.  Prior to joining the Regiment's pipes and drums, Kieran served with the Calgary Highlanders from August 1986 to April 1987 under Pipe Major Robert Henderson, CD.  Kieran joined the Black Watch Pipes and Drums in late 1988 under the Direction of Pipe Major Andrew Kerr, CD.  Kieran excelled at the tenor drum which he studied under Ed Burgess, CD, until Burgess’ appointment to Drum Major of the Black Watch (RHR)   of   Canada.    Kieran   remained   lead  tenor  under  Pipe Major  Jordon Anderson until Kieran's  retirement  from the Canadian Forces Reserve Army in  March of 1998, .  During his tenure with the Black Watch, Kieran paraded in front of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, other members of the Royal family as well as various politicians and delegates.

 

Kieran has participated in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo (pre show, tenor drummer), the Halifax Tattoo (tenor drummer), the Hamilton International Tattoo (tenor drummer), Virginia Military Tattoo (Drum Major.)  Drum-Major Boyle was the past Lead Drum Major of the Victoria Cross Tattoo.

 

Kieran was a member of the Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Police Pipes and Drums.  He was past Drum Major of Royal Canadian Legion branch #163, and of Paris Ontario Pipes and Drums.  Kieran uses military mace and drill.  He teaches tenor drum, bass drum, and Drum Majoring to the local cadet corps.

 

Kieran comes from a fine family of military heritage.  His father served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WW II with his four brothers.  Many of his father’s family were awarded Distinguished Service Medals for Canada.  Kieran’s brother also served with the pipes and drums of The Black Watch (RHR) of Canada under Pipe Major Bruce Bolton MMM, CD.  He can be reached via email at VP Kieran Boyle.
