Regimental Drum Major Association Officers
While in Colorado, Scott’s music career started. He was a member of the high school band as well as the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps of Casper, Wyoming. The Troopers went on tour during the summer of 1981, and from then on Scott was hooked on the pageantry of music and drill. He stayed active in music until joining the United States Marine Corps.
Scott served from 1985 to 1993 in many different Military Occupational Specialties (MOS). He learned drill and performance from his many friends in the Silent Drill Team from “8th and I” [the Silent Drill team and USMC Band Headquarters.] While in the Marine Corps, Scott met and married his beautiful wife, Tanya, at NAS, Memphis. They have two boys, Daniel and Joshua, which many of you have seen at band events.
Upon an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps, his family moved to Charleston, South Carolina. Scott assisted the local high school band with their drill.
Tanya wanted to return to New Hampshire, so Scott found a job working for the City of Manchester Information Systems Department. At the IS Dept., Scott met Mr. Sean Markey and the two started talking about bagpipes. Sean introduced Scott to the Ancient Order of Hibernians Pipes and Drums as the Web Master and band photographer. He then moved onward and upward into the drum major position.
Drum-Major Grant started out with the Hibernians under the direction of Pipe-Major Pat Boyle and Drum-Sergeant Kevin Boyle. His drum major style is conservative and regimental, using Scottish mace and hand signals for band direction and control.
