Vice President Drum Major William "Billy" Jordan is currently the Drum Major of the Dumbarton & District Pipe Band.  Billy started with the Dumbarton & District Pipe Band as a juvenile drummer.  There he learned side and tenor drums, as well as the mace.

He joined the 1st Battalion, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders as a side drummer.  He completed the drumming course in the Army and RSPBA.  He played tenor and bass in Grade 2 competition.  During this time he was allowed to take the band on March Past at the Scottish Games.  After he completed his military and the Army's Drum Major's course,  Billy was appointed Drum Major of the 1st Battalion, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. This permitted Billy to once again compete in Drum Major competitions.  His first year back in competition saw Billy in both both the competition band as a drummer and as Drum Major.  After that year, Billy made the difficult decision to concentrate on Drum Major competition.  He routinely makes the finals in all of the major competitions.

Currently, Billy tutors several very successful students including Andrew Symon and Iona Burns.   His pupils have taken all the major championships.  Billy also offers seminars in many countries including the USA and Germany.   Several of his students from overseas have participated in the games in Scotland.  He is currently rated as Professional grade.

Billy has recently released his successful DVD: Basic Drum Major's Drill
