Vice President Drum Major Iain McGibbon

Born in 1957, Iain was 10 yrs old when he started taking side drum instruction from the 48th Highlanders of Canada.  In 1970 he signed into the Toronto Scottish Regiment as a Cadet and continued drumming, learning the swinging tenor, alto and bass drum methods as well.  While still a “boy drummer” he began doing parades, shows and tattoos and was fortunate to have learned from many accomplished drummers including Grade One Champions, Andy Baillie and Alex Duthart.

In 1975 he signed into the Canadian Forces Reserve Army and has participated in some of the last of the “big shows” including the Wembley Pageant, The Scottish World Festival Tattoo, The Stone Mountain Georgia Tattoo and many others.

Iain became lead tip under the direction of Drum Major Norman MacKenzie and in 1985 started competing on the Highland Games circuit in the Drum Major contests.  He trained under many senior and premier Drum Majors over the years.

In 1995 he was transferred to the Lorne Scots Regiment as Drum Major and continues in that appointment today.  He is authorized to wear:  The Queens Jubilee Medal, The Armed Forces Long Service Medal with clasp, The Police Long Service Medal and The Ontario Police Bravery Medal.
